Dr. Edward Dale Plasterer

RICHMOND, Ind. – Dr. Edward Dale Plasterer, age 84, of Richmond, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Reid Hospital. Born April 28, 1927, in Huntington, Indiana, to Charles and Bessie Buzzard Plasterer, he graduated from Lancaster High School and served in the U.S. Army. Ed was a graduate of Indiana University, receiving his doctorate from Indiana University School of Medicine. He lived in Richmond since 1961 and was one of the founding pediatricians of the Richmond Pediatric Center. Ed was a life-member of the I.U. Alumni Association; member of the American Medical Association, Wayne County Medical Association, and Indiana State Medical Association; and member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He volunteered with the AARP tax preparation, Meals on Wheels, and Seniors Health Insurance Partnership. Ed loved gardening and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ermajean K. Braun Plasterer, to whom he was married on February 27, 1954; four children, Stephen C. (Karen) Plasterer of Greenwood, Indiana, David A. (Janice) Plasterer of Huntsville, Alabama, Jeffrey C. (Sharol) Plasterer of Hagerstown, and daughter, Lisa R. (Michael) LaPorte of Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren, Bess, Charlie, Sara, and Alyson Plasterer, Erica (Brandon) King, and Amanda and Bridget LaPorte; sister, Thelma King of Monticello, Indiana; brother, Carl (Dee) Plasterer of LaGrange, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Lola Plasterer of Warren, Indiana and Betty Plasterer of Livonia, Michigan; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Paul, Donald, and Kenneth Plasterer. Visitation for Dr. Edward Dale Plasterer will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 121 South 18th Street, Richmond with Rev. Robert Meckley officiating. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery.
