Marianne T. Clark

RICHMOND, Ind. – Marianne T. Clark, age 84, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Friends Fellowship surrounded by family. Born January 13, 1940, in Payne, Ohio, to Bernard and Catherine Linder Gonya, Marianne lived in Richmond all her adult life. She worked as a nurse in Richmond for many years, retiring in 2010. Marianne enjoyed her time most when spent with her family. As a mother her house was always the place where the neighbor kids gathered to play in the basement or backyard. As a grandmother she would frequently open her home to her grandchildren and their friends for sleepovers. As a great-grandmother she enjoyed baking brownies, having cookouts in the backyard, playing King’s Corners or Euchre, and carting out near-50-year-old boxes of toys for her great-grandchildren to play with. For decades she travelled across the country and even to Europe and South America to celebrate special moments together with her family. When Marianne wasn’t spending time with her family she was donating it to the catholic church, where for many years she helped prepare funeral dinners, or to the soup kitchen where she helped to feed and comfort the homeless and downtrodden. For decades Marianne donated her blood, nearly as frequently as she attended Catholic Mass, until she was told she was no longer eligible as a blood donor. Marianne was a person motivated by her sense of faith and family above all. Her family will remember her for her caring nature, love of family, independent mind and stubborn character, and her unwavering dedication to the will of God. Survivors include her children, Robert (Donna) Clark Jr. of Indiana, Joseph (Jill) Clark of Utah, Michael (Maria) Clark of Alabama, Katie (Andrew) Drummond of Colorado, and David (Amy) Clark of Ohio; grandchildren, Bob (Denise) Clark, Kristin (Andy) Davisson, Gabrielle (Ethan) VanderBosch, Sophia Clark, Benedetta Clark, Nicole (Kyle) Jackson, Max Drummond, and Noah Drummond; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Lucas, Drew, Annie, Janie, Scarlett, and William; brother, Mike (Louise) Gonya; sister, Nancy (Tom) Barker; nieces; nephews; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Clark Sr.; parents; siblings, Bill Gonya, Bob Gonya, John Gonya, Kathleen Fry, and Carol Swartz. Visitation for Marianne T. Clark will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Sengole Gnanaraj officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, 2317 Boston Pike, Richmond, IN.
