Tommy J. Daugherty

RICHMOND, Ind. – Tommy Joe Daugherty, age 64, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Monday, June 4, 2012. Born December 27, 1947, in Greenville, Ohio, to Howard and Virginia Burns Daugherty, he lived most of his life in Wayne County. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Whitewater-Fountain City High School, attended I.U. East, and served in the National Guard. He worked at AVCO, Richmond Eye Center, and Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Tom was a sales professional for 33 years in the auto industry at Fred First Ford, Tom Raper RV’s, and MATS International. He was very proud of providing automobiles to ministries around the world for over 22 years. Tom was a member of Fountain City Wesleyan Church, where he served with 1st Impressions Ministry, sang in a quartet, and often as a member of the Worship Arts Team. He was a member of the Emmaus Community, where he had served in the past as a board member and had attended Bible Study Fellowship. Tom enjoyed Bible study and Christian books, photography, golf, swimming, and family activities and vacations. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mara Jan McNutt Daugherty; daughters, Kellie (Mark) Daugherty Felker of Alabama, and Hollie (Mike) Day of Richmond; grandchildren, Taylor Felker, Cameron Felker, Madison Day, and Braeden Day; sisters, LouAnn (Jess) Price of Centerville and Vickie (Mark) Fulle of Richmond; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Nicky. Visitation for Tommy Joe Daugherty will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 U.S. Highway 27 North, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Fountain City Wesleyan Church with Pastor David Anderson and Pastor Keith Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery.
