Ada Brown

RICHMOND, Ind. – Ada Brown, age 97, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Friends Fellowship Community surrounded by her family. Ada was born on October 22, 1920, in Jackson County, Kentucky, to Isaac and Minnie Freeman Fowler. She lived in Richmond for the last 29 years, after moving from Connersville, Indiana. Ada formerly worked at Stant Manufacturing and as a teacher’s aide at Grandview Elementary in Connersville and Westview Elementary in Richmond. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville, where she taught Sunday school, and Baptist Temple in Connersville. Ada loved gardening and cooking for her family. She had a servant’s heart and was dedicated to meeting the needs of others. Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Tom) Noble of Prosper, Texas, Elaine (Bill) Foley of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dr. Gary (Lois) Brown of Richmond, and Sherri Harrison of Richmond; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Philip) Swabsin, Greg (Jennifer) Noble, Leslie (Chad) Bolser, Andrew (Camden) Brown, and Kaitlyn Harrison; great-grandchildren, Annika and Thomas Swabsin, Connor, Myriah, and Makayla Noble, Mallory and Maren Bolser, and Alice and Benjamin Brown; sister, Edith Bragg; brother, Earl Fowler; nieces; nephews; and her friends at Friends Fellowship Community. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Kenneth Wilson Brown, who died July 8, 2016; parents; five sisters; and three brothers. Ada’s family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and caregivers of Friends Fellowship Community for their love, friendship, and exceptional care! They were all just like family. Visitation for Ada Brown will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James Spon officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
