Aleck Lee "A.L." Bledsoe

RICHMOND, Ind. - Aleck Lee 'A.L.' Bledsoe, age 70, of Richmond, went home to be with his Lord Monday, October 8, 2012, at Reid Hospital. Born November 2, 1941, in Taylorville, Illinois, to Norman and Treva McElroy Bledsoe, he lived in Richmond since 1993. A.L. was a 1961 graduate of Morrisonville High School in Morrisonville, Illinois, and 1966 graduate of Bob Jones University. He was a member of Christ United Church, where he was a deacon. A.L. has pastored churches in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Indiana. He was an administrator of a Christian school in Virginia. A.L. was owner/operator of Bledsoe Contracting Services Unlimited. He volunteered in many aspects of high school sports since the early 1970's. A.L. coached the boy's basketball team and was also assistant volleyball coach at Richmond Academy. He worked at New Creations in maintenance. A.L. loved working with teenagers. Survivors include his wife, Mary Daughtry Bledsoe, to whom he was married in 1963; daughters, Stephanie (Doug) Orr of Spokane, Washington, Roslyn (Mike) Jones of Nashville, Tennessee, and Rebekah (Chad) Ross of Richmond; grandchildren, Michael Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Brooke Ross, Caitlyn Ross, and Alex Ross; step-grandchildren, Will (Christine) Orr, Laura Orr, and Jesse Orr; step-great-grandchild, Audrey Orr; brothers, Rodell (Cathy) Bledsoe of Springfield, Illinois, Vic (Kay) Bledsoe of Woodstock, Georgia, Alvin (Dianne) Bledsoe of Richmond, Merle (Rita) Bledsoe of Louisiana, Henry (Georgette) Bledsoe of Caledonia, Michigan, and John (Robin) Bledsoe of Richmond; sister, Barbara (Gary) Mangold of Springfield, Illinois; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Bledsoe; sisters, Phyllis Bledsoe and twin infant sisters. Visitation for Aleck Lee 'A.L.' Bledsoe will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, at Christ United Church, 3430 Backmeyer Road, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Christ United Church with Pastor Brett Karanovich officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
