Alice Irene Kehlenbrink

Centerville, Ind. - Alice Irene Kehlenbrink, 95, of Centerville, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Arbor Trace Exceptional Senior Living. She was born May 12, 1916, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Stephen Elijah and Alice Irene Miller Morgan. Alice was a 1936 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes, Indiana. This was a very difficult time for her to achieve such success. Her graduation was one of her proudest achievements. Alice was very active in sports and was an outstanding female basketball player in high school. Alice worked in the public all her life and was a magnet for bringing people together, whether in the workplace or in the neighborhood on the front porch. A diverse group of people gathered around her and enjoyed her stories. She dearly loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. She witnessed many changes in her 95 years, living through 17 presidents, many wars, the Great Depression, and the age of Technology. She was an advocate for Women’s Rights and was very active in the Republican Party in her younger years. Alice was married to Joseph Ritz and later married Malcolm Kehlenbrink in 1958. This was when she moved from Vincennes to Richmond. She is survived by three children: Robert J. (Mary Jane) Ritz of Indianapolis, Carol A. Ritz (Jack) Gaydosh of Richmond, and Marilyn Ritz (David) Fulton of Centerville; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her 11 brothers and sisters, she is preceded in death by two husbands, Joseph Ritz and Malcolm Kehlenbrink; mother, Alice Irene Miller Morgan Crane; father, Stephen Elijah Morgan; and one grandchild, Brian Sittloh. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Reverend Bud Parrish and Mike Elliot (Alice’s dear friend), both of Abington Christian Church. The ceremony will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lutherania Cemetery, Richmond.
