Anita R. Schuerman

RICHMOND, Ind. – Anita R. Schuerman, age 97, of Richmond, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Forest Park Health Campus. Born October 12, 1913, in Reesville, Ohio, to Vaughen R. and Roxie B. Carr Corbin, she lived in Richmond since 1934. Anita was a 1932 graduate of Selma High School and she attended Cedarville College and Richmond Business College. Anita retired from the accounting department as a claims processor for CIGNA after 21 years (1957–1978). After retirement she served as a volunteer at Reid Hospital for several years and as a tutor at Test Jr. High School. Anita was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church since 1937, where she was active in the Banner Crafters group and Presbyterian Women and a member of the Semper Fidelis Fellowship. She had been a member of Mothers’ Forum for several years. Survivors include her two sons, John W. (Wendy Seligmann) Schuerman of Richmond and J.Allan “Jerry” (Wilma Jane) Schuerman of Lady Lake, Florida; four grandchildren, Logan and Spencer Schuerman, both of Richmond, Lisa (Craig) DiCiancia of Granby, Connecticut, and Mark Schuerman of Milford, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Gina Corbin DiCiancia; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Schuerman, who died on March 24, 2000; five sisters, Evelyn Williams, Naoma Sites, Ruby Johnson, Eunice Marshall, and Beatrice Ballinger; and brother, Robert Corbin. Visitation for Anita R. Schuerman will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1004 North A Street, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joseph T. Fields officiating. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
