Billy Sells

RICHMOND, Ind. – Billy Sells, age 74, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at his home. Born March 5, 1940, in Byrdstown, Tennessee, to Carlos and Lula Hassler Sells, he had lived in Richmond since 1966. Billy was a 1959 graduate of Pickett County High School. He worked for DANA Corporation and retired after 30 years of service. Billy was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Richmond, where he served as a deacon, trustee, and general maintenance worker. He sang in church with fellow members and dear friends for many years. Billy’s greatest enjoyment was working for and serving the Lord. He loved to travel and had done so extensively after retiring. Billy also enjoyed tending to his lawn and landscape and was an excellent carpenter. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Janet Ruth Sells, to whom he was married on June 20, 1959; two sons, Anthony Ray (Lea) Sells of Carthage, Tennessee and Jeffrey Wade (Charlotte) Sells of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Casey) Sells and Zachary (Stephanie) Sells, both of Phoenix, Arizona, Licole (Garrett) Hunt of Winchester, Indiana, Sierra (Phil) Sells of Indianapolis, Indiana, Taylor Sells of Fishers, Indiana, and Joshua (Brittany) Bowery of Richmond, who he loved as his own; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Sells, Harley Smith, and Sofia Thompson; brother, Gordon Sells of Byrdstown, Tennessee; three sisters, Norma Halfacre of Norfolk, Virginia, Ina Ruth Cross of Byrdstown, Tennessee, and Elois Gaye King of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews who he loved very much; and the Bowery family who he considered family and have been neighbors for years. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ivan Sells, Eugene Sells, and Vernon Sells. Visitation for Billy Sells will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Moon officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
