Byron Charles "Barnie" McNutt

RICHMOND, Ind. - Byron Charles “Barnie” McNutt, age 93, of Richmond, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Reid Hospital. Born August 21, 1918, in New Hope, Ohio, to Lemual and Gertrude Lamott McNutt, he spent most of his life in Williamsburg and Richmond. Barnie was a 1937 graduate of Williamsburg High School and was the last surviving graduate of his class. He was one of the first certified television repairmen in Wayne County and was owner/operator of Williamsburg Radio and TV Sales and Service. Barnie farmed and among other crops he raised popcorn. He retired as an electrician from ALCOA in 1981, worked as a supervisor at AVCO, and also worked at Perfect Circle, NATCO, and Johns Manville. Barnie was a member of Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene and an active member of the Senior Adult Ministries. He was also a member of a “Breakfast Group,” a Wednesday morning gathering of friends. Barnie played golf on the Alcoa and AVCO teams and enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and using his computer. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his three devoted daughters, Marla (Sam) Roberts, Mara Jan (Tom) Daugherty, and Jama Lynn (Tom) McKee, all of Richmond; six grandchildren, Todd (Kelli) Stigleman, Kellie (Mark) Felker, Hollie (Michael) Day, Lara (Jeff) Tucker, and Trent and Tyler McKee; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces; nephews and many friends. Barnie was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Rosemary Helm McNutt; infant son, Gary Alan McNutt; and sisters, Mildred Saunders and Esther Huntington. Visitation for Byron Charles “Barnie” McNutt will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Malone officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City.
