Carl D. Orsborn

RICHMOND, Ind. – Carl D. Orsborn, age 76, of Richmond, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Reid Hospital after an extended illness. Born December 22, 1934, in Richmond, to Russell and Ethel Vance Orsborn, he was a lifelong resident of this area. Carl was a graduate of Centerville High School and completed numerous technical and management courses. He retired from Belden as Quality Control Engineer in 1994 after 41 years. Carl was a member of Northside Church of Christ and a charter member of Central Christian Church. He was a board member of the Centerville Senior Center and past president of Centerville Lions Club. Carl was a Center Township Library board member for 12 years and served as designated owner of the library during renovation and construction of the new Centerville-Center Township Library. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his cars and trucks, gardening, family vacations and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda L. Hunt Orsborn to whom he was married February 7, 1953; daughters, Joy (Robert) Hobson of Richmond and Ann (Jack) Taylor of Colorado; son, Steven (Paula) Orsborn of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Todd (Lindsey) Hobson and Brad (Emily) Hobson, both of Richmond, Amber (Jesse) Magnuson of Columbus, Ind., Jacob Burroughs of Connersville, Michael (Claudia) Taylor of Florida, Kyle (Jackie) Taylor of Colorado, Nicole and Amanda Orsborn of Richmond; 11 great-grandchildren and twins on the way; sister, Connie Yeager of Richmond; sister-in-law, Janice Orsborn of Richmond; nieces; nephews; aunts; cousins and many friends including Jerry (Maxine) Cockerill of Florida and Myron (Agnes) Lawler of Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Orsborn. Visitation for Carl D. Orsborn will be from 5-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with his grandson-in-law, Jesse Magnuson officiating. Entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.
