Catherine C. Schroeder

RICHMOND, Ind. – Catherine C. Schroeder, age 85, of Richmond, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Reid Hospital. Born March 20, 1928, in Richmond, to Robert and Evelyn Shoemaker Juerling, she lived all of her life in this area. Catherine attended St. Andrew Grade School and graduated from Richmond High School. She had worked in the family business, Schroeder Plumbing and Electric as office manager and had also worked at Jo Ann Fabrics. Catherine was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabel, YMI Auxiliary, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and Catholic Women United. Catherine loved to sew. She had been active in Girl Scouts and served on the St. Andrew Athletic Committee when her children were in school. Catherine volunteered at her church as well. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Jane A. Mottram of Peoria, Illinois, Diane Baker of Richmond, and Mary Frances (Scott) Morgan of New Hope, Tennessee; sons, Tom (Darla) Schroeder of Brownsville, Indiana, Joe Schroeder of Richmond, and Philip (Mindy) Schroeder of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, John Juerling of Indianapolis; sister, Martha Samuels of Richmond; cousins; nieces, nephews; and many friends, including special friends, Marilyn and Cathy. The family wishes to thank Catherine’s many caregivers including Natalie, Ryann, Nicole, Jennifer, and Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank H. Schroeder Jr., who died in 1998; parents; and sister, Joanne Cox. Visitation for Catherine C. Schroeder will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Short prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Kevin Morris officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
