Clara A. Meredith

RICHMOND, Ind. – Clara A. Meredith, age 90, of Richmond, died Tuesday, June 3, 2015, at her home. Born June 20, 1924, in Richmond, Indiana, to Paul Hatler and Weltha DeCamp Davis, Clara was a life-long resident of Richmond. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and attended Richmond Business College. Clara was a former co-owner of Floral Expressions, formerly employed by West End Building & Loan as Head Teller, and retired as Office Manager in 1989 from Beals Surveying Corp. after 17 years. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ; current member and Past Worthy Matron of Loyal Chapter #49 of the Order of Eastern Star in Richmond where she also received a 50 year recognition in 2014; current member and Past President of the 12th District of the Order of Eastern Star; current member of Social Order of Beauceant #108 in Anderson, Indiana; Past President and life member of the Indiana State Association of White Shrine; Past President and life member of the Richmond Noon Optimists Club; former member of the following: Manetho White Shrine of Jerusalem #15 of Richmond; White Shrine #62 of Fairborn, Ohio; Altrusa; and Rose City Chapter of American Business Women’s Association. Clara was one of the founders of the Richmond High School Music Boosters Association. Following the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. Survivors include her daughters, Karen G. (David) Ross, Linda (Larry) Huffman-Baker, and Lou Anna (Jerold) Moore, all of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Saundra Ross and her fiancée Anthony Johnson of Evansville, IN, Phillip Ross and his wife Kate of Valparaiso, IN, Darren Ross and his wife Kristina of Eaton, OH, Kimmie Hoeppner and her husband Elmer of Huntersville, NC, Kelley Manning and her partner Bill Lamkin of Indianapolis, IN, Christopher Moore and his wife Lisa of Wayne, ME, Kyle Miller and his wife Mindie of Tulsa, OK, and Lieutenant Commander Leslie Huffman and his wife Natalie of Edmond, OK; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Meredith, who died October 13, 2003; parents; and brothers, Dick L. Davis and Kenneth H. Stephenson. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care of Dr. Jeevan Sekhar and the Reid Hospice staff. Visitation for Clara A. Meredith will be from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with the Eastern Star Service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Joel McIntyre of Victory Baptist Church officiating.
