Clisba Ardell "Clizzie" Sullivan

RICHMOND, Ind. – Clisba Ardell “Clizzie” Sullivan, age 90, of Richmond, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Reid Hospital. Born September 28, 1922, in McLean County, Illinois, to Ardell and Margie Poplewell Sullivan, he moved to Richmond from Lynn in 1973. Clizzie attended Spartanburg High School and was a World War II Navy Seabee veteran serving in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. He started Spartan Casket Shell in 1954. Following several years of retirement, he re-entered the casket business as the former owner of Romark Industries, where he retired the second time at age 70. Clizzie was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Kirk-Little Post #1108 and member of American Legion Harry Ray Post #65 and Moose and Druids Lodges. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, wintering in Florida for many years, and was proud of his boat trip down the Ohio River and the Mississippi River to his home in Fort Myers, Florida. Survivors include his son, Danny Sullivan of Richmond; daughters, Susan McCollum and Penny (Rick) Freeman, both of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Daniel Sullivan of Richmond, Christopher (Annette) Sullivan of Greens Fork, Jaimie (Ray) Little of Montgomery, Alabama, Elizabeth Toney of Montgomery, Alabama, Clark (Elizabeth) McCollum of Columbus, Indiana, Michael (Leigh) Roan of Carmel, Indiana, and Sarah (Bryan) Smith of Bloomington, Indiana; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Sullivan of Winchester; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He leaves a special companion, Daphne Walker of Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Blanche Wills; four brothers, Ralph, Cameron, Harold, and Robert Sullivan; and great-granddaughter, Cam Sullivan. Visitation for Clisba Ardell “Clizzie” Sullivan will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with a service by the VFW Kirk-Little Post #1108 at 1:45 pm. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with son-in-law, Rick Freeman, and Rev. James Girdley officiating. Burial will be in Spartanburg Cemetery, Spartanburg, Indiana, with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
