Dale Batchik

RICHMOND, Ind. – Dale Batchik, age 79, of Richmond, died Saturday, August 18, 2007, at his home. Born September 4, 1927, in Buffalo, Ohio to Joseph and Grace Hamilton Batchik, he lived in Akron, Ohio from 1928 to 1969 when he moved to Richmond. Dale was a 1945 graduate of Garfield High School in Akron, Ohio and a 1951 graduate of Kent State University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946 and the Navy reserves from 1946-1951. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was Manager of Associates Financial Service Co., Inc. in Akron, Ohio; Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and Richmond. Dale began a career in 1982 with Wayne Bank and Trust Co. in Cambridge City and retired in 1992 as Vice-President, Senior Loan Officer, and Compliance Officer at the WAYTRU Plaza office in Richmond. He served as an independent consultant to Wayne Bank and Trust Co. Dale attended Centerville Christian Church; served on the Richmond Area Rose Festival Board of Directors; was a Charter member and President of the Sertoma Club of Richmond from 1974-1975 and the Sertoma Member of the Year in 1972, 1984, and 1991; was a member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce from 1972-2002; was a member and served on the Board of Directors of Richmond Elks Lodge #649; and was involved in many other civic duties and responsibilities. In addition, Dale was a lifelong sports lover, especially enjoying football and golf at the Elks. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Ruhl Hamm Batchik, to whom he was married August 31, 2001; daughter, Debra Jean Batchik of Florida; daughter-in-law, Maria Batchik; step-daughter, Dana Uphaus and her husband Jeff of Richmond; step-son, Greg Kevin Ruhl and his wife Sherran of New Paris, Ohio; four grandchildren, Denice, Michele, Joe, and Ashley; three step-grandsons, Ethan and Keifer Uphaus and Kevin Becht; one brother, Kenneth Eugene Batchik and his wife Jean of Akron, Ohio; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, A. Jean Presson Batchik, who died December 21, 1988; son, Richard Dale Batchik, who died April 6, 2006; one brother, Joseph Batchik; and one sister, Blodwin Marie Armbrust. Funeral service for Dale Batchik will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond with Pastor Steve Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at the funeral home.
