CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Deborah Jane Dean, age 88, of Centerville, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her home. Born September 16, 1924, in Centerville, to Joseph Keith and Laurabel Stevens Hatfield, she was a life-long resident of Centerville. Debby was a 1942 graduate of Centerville High School where she was a cheerleader, and attended Earlham College. She worked at the W.T. Mathews Insurance Company. Deborah was a 50-year member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority of Centerville, Richmond Elks, and a 60-year member of the Centerville Bridge Club. In her youth, she was a dancer in the Elizabeth Kolp Dance Studio, and was an accomplished Equestrian. Survivors include her daughter, Diana Wellings of Kissimmee, Florida; sons, Mike (Linda) Dean of Naples, Florida, and Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Andrew (Missy) Dean of Kissimmee, Florida; grandchildren including Christopher (Nikki) and Craig (Sylwia) Wellings of Key West, Florida, Misti Dean (Stephen) O’Connell of Andover, Massachusetts, Major Casey (Melissa) Dean of Fort Bliss, Texas, currently serving in Afghanistan, Captain Courtney (Tutt) Dean of Fort Benning, Georgia, Abigail Dean of Riverview, Illinois; two step-grandchildren, Lindsay and James Whiddon of Kissimmee, Florida; 10 great-grandchildren, Peter, Jack, Thomas, and Henry O’Connell of Andover, Massachusetts, Cassadee Wellings of Key West, Florida, Liesl and Cooper Dean of Fort Bliss, Texas, Connor and Colin Dean of Fort Benning, Georgia, and Natalia Wellings of Key West, Florida; sister-in-law, Edna Ruth Dean of Centerville; nieces; nephews; cousins; and life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ralph Lee Dean who died in 2009 and her parents. Visitation for Deborah Jane Dean will be from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
