Duane C. Hamm RICHMOND, Ind. – Duane C. Hamm, age 69, of Richmond, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born October 31, 1939, in Liberty, Ind., to Lloyd C. and Ruby Frame Hamm, he spent most of his life in Wayne County. Duane was a 1957 graduate of Richmond High School. He had lived in Warner Robins, Georgia, from 1958 to 1970, after serving in the Air Force. While there he was employed by Hollis, Matthews, and Holiday Architectural Firm in Macon, Georgia. He was currently employed by Lorenz-Williams-Clinton Architect, Interior Design & Engineering in Richmond. Duane was a former co-owner of Lloyd Hamm & Sons Excavating. He was a former member of Richmond Elks Lodge 469, American Legion Post 65 and was a Kentucky Colonel. Duane was an avid golfer, bowler and had belonged to several bridge clubs. He owned the first Corvette in Richmond and enjoyed Corvettes throughout his life. He had attended the Baptist Church. Duane’s favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family. Survivors include his wife Terri L. (Hillman) Hamm, to whom he was married November 2, 1991; two daughters, Kristi Stephens and her husband Brad of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Aimee Legear and her husband Tom of Richmond; three sons, Kenny Hamm and his wife Kathy of Warner Robins, Georgia, Rodney Hamm and his wife Lea of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Matthew Wilson of Richmond; one brother, Richard L. Hamm of Richmond; stepmother, Irene Hamm of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; his former wife, Nell Hamm of Warner Robins, Georgia; and his best friend and dog, Caesar. Funeral service for Duane C. Hamm will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with Rev. Paul Register, minister of the Richmond Avenue Church of God officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military graveside services by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charitable organization.
