Effie Louise Bryant

RICHMOND, Ind. – Effie Louise Bryant, age 83, of Richmond, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Golden Living Center – Golden Rule surrounded by her family. Born August 13, 1928, in Wayne County, to Lewis A. and Shelly May Shain Mitchell, she was a life-long resident of this area. Louise worked in the restaurant business all of her life. Louise was the Owner Operator of Fireside Restaurant in Fountain City and she was the co-owner and operator of Lu Jon’s Restaurant. She was a proud member of the Democrat Party. Louise was a remarkable woman with a great love of family. She had 13 children, 31 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was blessed with many, many friends, and she touched so many lives. As a restaurant owner she gave away many free meals to those who were homeless or down on their luck. She knew all their stories and was convinced it was up to her to make their life a little easier. She enjoyed reading and attending her grandkids’ ball games and many activities. She also enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. Her pies especially were famous in this area. Years after she retired she would get calls from former customers wanting her to make them pies for all occasions. Survivors include four daughters, Doris Glover of Somerset, Kentucky and Patricia Loaiza, Rebecca (Mike) Yount, and Sharon Brown, all of Richmond; five sons, Charley Bryant, Richard (Kendra) Bryant, Mike Bryant, Abel (Casey) Bryant, and Gary Bryant, all of Richmond; and son-in-law, Robert Ridner of Somerset, Kentucky; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Earl Bryant, who died on February 1, 1985; parents; two daughters, Sally Ridner and Linda Loaiza; two sons, Charles Earl Bryant Jr. and Archie Bryant; one sister, Edna Foust; and long time companion, John Hamilton. Celebration of the life of Effie Louise Bryant will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
