Fritz P. Schoemaker

RICHMOND, Ind. - Fritz P. Schoemaker, age 57, of Richmond, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at his home. Fritz was born August 17, 1958, in Richmond, Indiana, to Francis and Diane Matchan Schoemaker. He owned and operated Fleet Trailer Service since 1992. His business was a success because of his imagination and ability. His employees were like family to him and he served customers from all over the country. Fritz loved motorcycles and was an avid biker. He was an amazing and talented bike builder, fabricator, and engineer. Because of that he won many awards for his work. Fritz was very active in charity work, including being a member of ABATE of Indiana, and regularly participated in the Riley Children's Miracle Ride and many other charity rides. He never wanted recognition and was a very humble man. Fritz deeply cared for others and always went out of his way to help those in need. Every outing with Fritz was an adventure and he loved being outdoors. Survivors include his loving wife and partner, Julia Barker Schoemaker, to whom he was married on February 20, 2016; son, Jason (Sarah) Schoemaker of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-son, Joseph (Joy) Craft of Richmond; grandchildren, Damien, Laila, and Liam; step-grandchildren, Joey Jr., Brock, and Gavin; sisters, Teresa (Dan) Turner of Eaton, Ohio, and Sue (Larry) Goffinet of Alexandria, Indiana; brothers, Chris (Lori) Schoemaker of Wisconsin and Frank (Tonya) Schoemaker of Richmond; several nephews and nieces, including Rachelle Pucelj of Chisholm, Minnesota, and Davina Sholty and Tricia Campbell, both of Richmond; and many friends including life-long friends, Gary Barker and Bill Wise, who were like brothers to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings, including Cathy Ramsey and Debbie Martin; father-in-law, William Barker; and his grandma, Lestra. A memorial celebration for Fritz P. Schoemaker will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
