Garry P. Watson

RICHMOND, Ind. – Garry P. Watson, age 69, of Richmond, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Reid Hospital. Born September 20, 1944, in Richmond to John Edgar and Thelma McLemore Watson, Garry lived in this area for most of his life. He was a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Indiana. Garry then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. He met and married Janie Payne in 1965. They later moved to Burbank, California. There he worked and retired from Firestone/Bridgestone in 1996. They then returned to make their home in Richmond. Garry never met a stranger. He always had something to say to everyone. Garry loved NASCAR, Bingo, and the gambling boats. Survivors include his wife, Janie M. Watson; son, Garry Watson Jr. of California; daughter, Wendy Clemos of New Zealand; grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Amaris and Voorees Clemos; great-grandchildren, Danny and Julie Amaris; sisters, Janice (David) Ripberger of Milton, Indiana, LuAnn (Bill) Scott of Florida, and Tammy (Steve) Todd of Florida; brothers, John (Pam) Watson, Jeff Watson, and Norman (Kathy) Watson, all of Florida; sisters-in-law, Kathy Watson of California, Carol Ann Watson of Florida, Karen (Eddie) Nunez, Hazel Faddis, Kathy Faddis, Valerie Faddis, and Missey Faddis; brothers-in-law, James W. Smith of Richmond, John (Joy) Faddis, and Larry (Chona) Faddis; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Watson Pyles; father, John Watson; siblings, Beulah Smith, Larry Watson, Barry Watson, and Tim Watson; and brother-in-law, Mark Faddis. Visitation for Garry P. Watson will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Holman officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
