James C. "Jim" Miller

RICHMOND, Ind. – James C. “Jim” Miller, age 63, of Richmond, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Reid Hospital. Born September 10, 1949, in Richmond, to Paul K. and Dorothy Zeyen Miller, he was a life-long resident of this area. Jim served in the U.S. Army’s Americal Division during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lind Miller, to whom he was married February 28, 1970; children, Jacob Miller of Richmond, Shawn Miller and fiancé Shawn Rose of Greenfield and his children Sawyer and Grace, and Hannah Kemp and husband Jeff of Indianapolis and their children Saidee and Eli, and their granddaughter, Ava Ruby; siblings, Jack Miller and wife June, Ken Miller, Patty Wessel and husband Rick, Donna Vance and husband Marvin, Kathy Hammons and husband Ken, and Ronnie Miller and wife Bo; sister-in-law, Shirley Miller; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Taylor; brothers, Marty and Pete Miller; and nephew and friend, Larry Taylor. Jim’s youngest son and friend, Jacob, lived with him and they did a variety of activities together including Special Olympics, watching Red’s Baseball games, softball games, and go-cart races. He worked at Frontier Communications for 42 years. Jim was a member of the VFW Kirk-Little Post #1108 and supported the Wounded Warrior Project. He was also a member of the Winchester Golf Club. Jim loved golfing and motorcycles. He was a very giving, loving, and caring person and a friend to all three of his children. Visitation for James C. “Jim” Miller will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with a service by the VFW Kirk-Little Post 1108 at 6:45 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Deacon Frank Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery Veteran’s Field of Honor with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
