James Robert Quigg Jr.

RICHMOND, Ind. – James Robert Quigg Jr., age 82, of Richmond, died Friday, June 3, 2016, in Richmond, Indiana. Born October 18, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to J. Robert and Maxine Murray Quigg, James was a life-long resident of Richmond. He was a graduate of George School, received his bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and received his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law. James served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of First Friends Meeting, which was a very meaningful part of his life. James was the Chairman of the Board for Friends Fellowship Community, sat on the board for Earlham Cemetery and was very active in the Earlham School of Religion, The Quigg Fund, Chairman of the Board for First National Bank, and Trustee for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County. He was the owner and Chairman of the Board for Richmond Baking Company. James was a member of the Biscuit and Cracker Manufacturing Association, founder of the ALBCO Foods, Inc., and co-founder of the MJM Healthy Snacks, Inc. He was a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, June Tripp (Coulter) Quigg, to whom he was married on January 19, 1991; sons, James Robert (Kelli) Quigg III of Richmond, William Murray (Felicia) Quigg of Richmond, David Hagerman (Mary Ellen) Tripp of Charlotte, North Carolina, Malcolm Allen (January) Tripp of Saugatuck, Michigan, and Robert Bruce (Leanne) Tripp of Greenfield, Indiana; cousin, William Quigg; 10 grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Patricia Lakoff and Carole Rupp. Funeral service for James Robert Quigg Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at First Friends Meeting, 2010 Chester Blvd., Richmond, with Rev. Alan Kolp officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. There will be a reception held for family and friends after the service. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
