Jean M. Abraham McKinney

RICHMOND, Ind. – Jean M. Abraham McKinney, age 81, of Richmond, died Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Reid Hospital Hospice after an extended illness. Born November 2, 1929, in Oxford, Ohio, to Willard and Hattie Wolfe Willis, she was raised by a great-aunt and great-uncle, Minnie and Fred Kramer, in Liberty following the death of her mother when Jean was an infant. She was a 1947 graduate of Short High School. Jean married her first husband, Cleatus J. Abraham Jr. in 1947, and moved to Richmond and spent the rest of her life here. Following the death of her husband in 1986, she remarried in 1990 to William E. McKinney Jr. Jean was a member of the Northside Church of Christ since 1966. The family would like to thank Reid Hospice for their love and support. Survivors include her two daughters, Carol (Noel) Carstens of Washington and Kathy (David) Clark of Richmond; two step-daughters, Christine Smith of Richmond and Shirley (David) Thompson of Centerville; step-son, Richard (Lela) McKinney of Carmel; five granddaughters, Lisa Davis, Kimberly Arkell, Sara Carstens, Kathleen Ison, and Rebecca Mitchell; six great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, William E. McKinney Jr., who died October, 11, 2007; parents; great-aunt, Minnie Kramer, great-uncle, Fred Kramer, and their daughter, Esther; son, Jonathan Dale Abraham, who died in the 1968 explosion; and first husband, Cleatus J. Abraham Jr., who died in 1986. Visitation for Jean M. Abraham McKinney will be from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Northside Church of Christ, 1962 Chester Blvd., Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the church with David Ashbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond.
