John Joseph "Jack" Dickey

RICHMOND, Ind. – John Joseph “Jack” Dickey, age 75, of Richmond, passed Friday, August 8, 2008, at home with his family. Born February 19, 1933, in Richmond, Indiana, to Albert H. and Ellene Button Dickey, he was a life-long resident of Richmond. Jack was a 1951 graduate of Richmond High School and U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He earned his mechanical engineering degree from Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne and retired in 1994 from ALCOA after 42 years. Jack was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Richmond Masonic Lodge #196, Indianapolis Murat Temple, and an active member of the Richmond Tarum Shrine Club having served as President, organized the most recent Shriners parade and enjoyed participating in many parades over the years, and coordinated “Cans For Kids” which was very important to him that benefited the Shriners Hospital for Children. He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Rebecca Ann “Becky” Stanley Dickey, to whom he married May 23, 1981; children, Sarah Paul and her husband Gary of Powell, Ohio, Becky Cooper of Richmond, Jeff Dickey and his wife Cindy of Richmond, and Lisa Costlow and her husband Jud of Centerville; grandchildren, Simon, Nick, and Alan Paul of Ohio, Gregory and Meghan Cooper of Richmond, Shaye Isaacs and her husband Toby of Richmond, Gary Nelson of Noblesville and Leah Nelson of Centerville; two sisters, Nancy Cooper of Florida and Betty Lewis of Arizona; brother-in-law, Bob Batscher of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jacob Paul; and sister, Barbara Batscher. Visitation for John Joseph “Jack” Dickey will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Shrine Service. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor John Walker officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
