Judith Ann Carty

RICHMOND, Ind. – Judith Ann Carty, age 81, of Richmond, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Reid Hospital. Born April 26, 1933, to Herschel and Katheryn McBeth Williams, she grew up in Richmond and attended Richmond High School. Judy lived in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, from 1964 to 1986 before moving back to Richmond. She was a homemaker and a member of First English Lutheran Church. Although she was a small and seemingly fragile woman, Judy was gentle with an unshakable faith and strength that saw her through many trials. She fought for every day of her life and never gave up. Judy said, “If He leads me to it, He will see me through it.” She had many friends and was dear to everyone who knew her. Judy loved her family dearly. She was lovingly known by her great-nieces and great-nephew as “Aunt-Grandma.” Survivors include her daughter, Kimberley (David) Nashif of Seattle, Washington; son, Rod Gray of Richmond; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jason) Sander of Maryland, Christine (Alex) Hobbs of California, Julia (Rob) Jolley of Alabama, Charles Gray and Austin Gray, both of Michigan, and John Gray of Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Andre, Kallie, Klara, Cooper, Dominic, Isaac, Riley, and Mia; brother, Roland (Glora) Williams of Richmond; sister, Margaret (Ambrose) Svarczkopf of Richmond; sister-in-law, Beverly (Ransom) Stigleman of Evansville, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; beloved dog, Buddy; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith D. Carty; first husband, Charles V. Gray; parents; aunts; uncles; cousins; and a niece. Visitation for Judith Ann Carty will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor John Walker and Pastor Brian Derrer officiating.
