Linda Jackson

RICHMOND, IN– Linda Jackson, age 77, of Richmond, Indiana, surrendered this body for her Heavenly one on December 5, 2024, after a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. Born March 17, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, to Millard and Lucy Rader Spencer. Linda lived all of her life in this community. She was the consummate Christian lady who was always drawn to those with the deepest need. Linda mentored numerous young ladies over the years and showed them, by example, how to live a victorious Christian life. She learned later in her life that she was a pretty good artist, having won several senior adult art competitions. (Everyone in her family wanted one of her paintings). Prior to her retirement she worked in various fields which allowed her to lead tours to the Western National Parks, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Wales, as well as numerous other places in the U. S. She co-chaired the annual Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day campaign for over 20 years with her husband, served with American Business Women’s Association, and was an accomplished floral designer. Linda was 1st runner-up in the 1988 Mrs. Rose Festival competition. However, her greatest accomplishments were being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman of God! Linda and Wayne met at the old Springwood Lake in the summer of 1962, married in February of 1965, and have spent their entire adult lives together. She was a homemaker and mother. Linda was always a caregiver, and typically thought of others before herself. Her family was the most important thing to her, and she always worked hard to nurture the bonds of her children and grandchildren, and they all loved her back just as much. Linda loved having fun with her grandchildren. It was impossible to walk into her home without seeing the devotion she had to her family. Portraits she had painted of her loved ones adorned her walls. Even the way she cooked her meals was out of love for her family. If someone had a favorite meal, she would make it for them, bustling around the kitchen to make everything just right. She was always supportive and encouraging. In addition to her husband, Wayne, Linda is survived by her mother, Lucy Spencer Sharp; daughters, Joni (Brad) Sylvester, of Wichita, Kansas, and Gina Radel of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Brittany (Jonathan) Chestnut, Lauren (Craig) Barney, Rachel Radel, Josh (Leann Wigginton) Radel, and Justin Sylvester; great grandchildren, James, Jesse, Judah, Saylor and Noah; brothers, Gene (Kathy) Spencer of Richmond, Indiana, Jerry (Jennifer) Spencer of Cypress, Texas; and sister, Faye Howard of Richmond, Indiana; numerous nieces; nephews; and friends. Linda was preceded in death by her father; stepfather, Robert “Bud” Sharp; sisters, Pauline, Julia, Anna, and Beulah “Boots”; son-in-law, Andy Radel; father-in-law; mother-in-law, brothers in law: several aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews. Visitation for Linda Jackson will be from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Living Faith Church of God, 3777 Nolands Fork Road, Richmond, IN. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Living Faith Church of God with Pastors Allen Henderson and Jonathan Chestnut officiating.
