Loretta Ramsey

Loretta Ramsey, age 77, of Richmond, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Reid Hospital. She was born December 31, 1931, in Rigdon, Ind., to Jesse and Mary McKinney Jamison and lived in Richmond most of her life. Loretta was a member of First Baptist Church over 50 years where she previously worked as a teller. She was a volunteer for 25 years at Reid Hospital where she worked on the sixth floor and the gift shop. Loretta's hobby was cooking and collecting recipes. She enjoyed her family very much. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Survivors include her husband, James Ramsey to whom she was married June 26, 1948; children, Eddie (Nancy) Ramsey, Ray (MaryAnn) Ramsey, and Steve (Tracie) Ramsey, all of Richmond; grandchildren; Jimmy (Jamie) Ramsey, Mark Ramsey, Jennifer (Chuck) Philpot, Kelly (Greg) Jones, Chris Coffel, Rebecca Ramsey, Karen (David) Candlish, Heather (Brent) Hemmelgarn, and Nicholas (Jennifer) Ramsey; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille (Linville) Canter of Ravenna, Ky., Arlene Townsend of Westfield, N.C., and Lavenda (Sam) Canter of Irvine, Ky.; brother, Gayle Jamison of Centerville, Ohio; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Jesse Jamison and stepmother, Rose Jamison; brothers, Claude, Montgomery, Elbert and Charles Jamison, Walter Moore and Jesse Rogers; sisters, Irene Duncan, Etta Estes, and two infant sisters; and great-grandson, Tyler Ramsey. Visitation for Loretta Ramsey will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17 at First Baptist Church, 1601 South A St., Richmond, with Rev. James Spon officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
