Lottie Mae Bibbs

Lottie M. Bibbs RICHMOND, Ind. - Lottie Mae Bibbs, age 77, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, October 20, 2011, at Reid Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 16, 1933, in Spartanburg, S.C., to Mary Lou Bennett and James C. Boyce. After extensive travel throughout the United States and Europe through the military, Lottie settled in the Richmond area. She was a graduate of Richmond High School. Lottie married Robert E. Bibbs, a military man and thus her travels began. She was employed by Carmel Valley Manor, in Carmel Valley, Calif., for many years as Supervisor of the Environmental Services Department. She returned to Richmond and was employed by the Richmond Community School system in the Central Kitchen. Lottie enjoyed working with her peers as well as students who lovingly called her “Grandma.” She was a member of the Richmond Seventh Day Adventist Church in Richmond, and often visited Mount Olive Baptist Church on Sundays, where she was also loved and respected. Lottie’s favorite past-times were cruising the malls, crafting, shopping, and spending time with her sister, Mildred Brown. Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Robert) Wright of Richmond, Brenda Bentley of Richmond, and Robin (Michael) Garnett of Seaside, Calif. Lottie is survived by her sisters, Mildred (Robert) Brown of Richmond, and Irene (Clarence) Griffin, Mary (Michael) Patterson, Valerie (John) Perry, Linda (Willie) Surratt, and Dorothy (James), all of Spartanburg, S.C., and brothers, Burton (Deannie) Bennett and Dewayne Bennett, both of Richmond, and James C. (Hattie) Boyce, Lionel (Linda) Boyce, and Willie Chambers, all of Spartanburg, S.C. Also left to mourn her death are her grandchildren, Brad Boyce of Dayton, Ohio, Shawn Webster of Los Angeles Calif., Mikka Garrigan of New Albany Ind., Taurus Baker of Ohio, Myleka Garnett of Seaside, Calif., and Tanei Garnett of Seaside, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Dezire, Britney, Taurana, Taurielle, Kianna, Maiyee, Ayame, John, Shaylia, Raven, Storm, and Shauntaurius; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend/sister-n-law, Star Bennett; and friend, Marilyn Winfrey. She also leaves behind extended family members, relatives, and many wonderful friends. Lottie will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Bennett; step-father, Howard Bennett; brothers, Odell Bennett, Robert (Bobby) Bennett, and Eugene Russel Boyce; and ex-husband, Robert Bibbs. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4356 U.S. Highway 35 North, Richmond, with Pastor Dwight Kruger officiating. Visitation will be the same day prior to the funeral from 11 to 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery followed by a special “Fellowship Dinner” served at the Richmond High School Cafeteria. All are welcome. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond. Please do not send flowers.
