Lowell W. Wilson

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Lowell Wilson, age 88, formerly of Richmond, passed away at home on Thursday, November 28, 2013, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he has resided with his daughter and wife since 2010. Lowell was born January 15, 1925, in Richmond to Ora and Alma Shumaker Wilson. He graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1942 and was in the class of 1946 at Earlham College. Lowell spent several years as Personnel Manager at the Joseph H. Hill Company. He then continued on to serve for four years as Chief Deputy Sherriff of Wayne County along with his father, Sheriff Ora Wilson. Lowell later went on to own and operate Lemon’s Florist with his wife Jean, before joining Indiana Glass Company in Dunkirk, Indiana. He became Regional Sales Manager, where he focused on Product Development for the offices of Dunkirk and Richmond. Lowell retired in 1982 after 25 years with Indiana Glass. Lowell was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Forest Hills Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Jean Lamparter Wilson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two children, Carol Wilson Moore of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Scott Wilson and wife, June, of Boxford, Massachusetts; and three grandchildren, Erin Moore of Washington D.C., Robert Wilson of Denver, Colorado, and Alison Wilson of Lowell, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Michael J. Moore. Services for Lowell Wilson will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Earlham Memorial Mausoleum, 1101 National Road West, Richmond, with Pastor John Hollis officiating. Entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
