RICHMOND, Ind. – Martha Genieve Martin, age 95, of Richmond, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Reid Hospital. Born April 16, 1917, in Randolph County to Fred and Blanche Martin Hollingsworth, she lived in Wayne County most of her life. Genieve was a graduate of Whitewater High School and worked at Campbell, Duff & Rehling Insurance Agency in Richmond for 33 years. She was an active member of West Richmond Friends Meeting since 1951, where she was part of the Friendly Circle, taught Sunday school, served as receiving treasurer, and on many committees. Her hobbies included stamp collecting (both personally and for charities), playing cards, crossword puzzles, traveling, eating out, and cooking with her specialties including chicken and dumplings and angel food cake. She was a devoted caregiver to her mother and sister for many years and anyone who was in need. Genieve took pride in her ability to live in her own home until the last few days. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (Nathan) Edmonds of Deerfield, Ind., and Glen Ellyn, Ill.; son, Philip (Virginia) Martin of Richmond; five grandchildren, Denise (Michael) Murphy of Geneva, Ill., Derek (Danielle) Edmonds of Huntington Beach, Calif., Jennifer (Jeff) Seifert of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Millicent Martin (fiancé, Mike Emery) of Richmond, Fred (Julia) Edmonds of Deerfield, Ind.; 10 great-grandchildren, Michael Szwacki of Somonauk, Ill., Sharelle (Jeff) Hammers of Plano, Ill., Jacob and Cody Murphy of Geneva, Ill., Tristan and Tatum Genieve Edmonds of Huntington Beach, Calif., Nicholas and Lindsay Seifert of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Sarah and Beau Edmonds of Deerfield, Ind.; two great-great-grandchildren, Ayden and Dean Hammers of Plano, Ill.; cousins, Barbara Booher, Cathleen Bretschneider, Gretchen Stump, and Faye Thalls; and close friends, Bernice Wisehart, Wanda Harvey, and Chris Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Hollingsworth; her former husband, Clarence Jesse Martin Jr.; and several cousins. Visitation for Martha Genieve Martin will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Joshua Brown officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
