Martha Wedding

RICHMOND, Ind. – Martha Wedding, age 86, of Richmond, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Reid Hospital after a short illness related to her struggle with chronic leukemia. Born July 23, 1928, in Richmond Indiana, to Harry and Androniky Lourias, Martha was a life-long resident of Richmond. Many will remember the last half of her working career where she was the office manager at Richmond Plating Company. As part of a family owned local business her position was a natural fit for her personality. Outgoing in nature she handled most of the administrative duties using the knack she had for remembering people, facts, and figures. In retirement Martha embraced her many active associations in the Richmond community. Most recently was her membership in the Richmond Senior Center, Senior Steppers, and participation in local travel groups. Special in her life were her friends that were built on her many associations. She enjoyed showing her appreciation to them in words and in deeds done, loyally supporting them in their mutual association. Many have attested that she was a helping hand, a meal when you needed one, and a friend to share a laugh with as you enjoyed time together. All of the people along with the activities kept her days full and engaging. She defined her priorities in life to help support her family, sisters, nephews, and nieces in their endeavors, but to all that knew her, she was a caring and giving individual. Of special note to her was the pride in her Greek heritage, proud to pass it down to family and grandkids. As a dependable loving mother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend is how we will remember her. She will be dearly missed by all. Survivors include her son Harry (Debbie) Wedding of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Andrea (Jerry) Martin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; grandchildren, Alex Wedding of Tampa, Florida and Jason Crawford of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Helen Christofolis of Richmond; close family members, Mike Lyons, Niki Brehm, and Dean Christofolis; and several other nephews and nieces residing out-of- town. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald ‘”Don” Wedding, who died September 7, 1994 and a sister, Georgia Lyons. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Earlham Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
