Mary T. Anderson

RICHMOND, Ind. - Mary T. “Aunt Mary” Anderson, 84, passed away at home in Richmond, on Feb. 25, 2008. She was born in Indianapolis on Sept. 23, 1923, to Varjo and Lora Butterfield Anderson and grew up and spent most of her adult life living in the Indianapolis and Carmel areas. Later in life, when she was unable to fully take care of herself, she moved to Richmond with her nephew Dick, where she lived the remaining 3 1/2 years of her life. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School and spent much of her working life as an artist, creating hand lettered signs, posters and displays for the Finance Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. She was also very involved with the Riviera Club in Indianapolis also creating signs, posters and decorations for many various functions and parties over the years. Her love of the Lord in her retired years connected her with various churches in the Carmel area where her love and expertise on computers allowed her to design and publish weekly bulletins. She loved her in-home Bible study group and other various church activities. She also loved animals and typically had numerous pets over the years. She was a past member of the Eastern Star, Riviera Club and Humane Society. Survivors include her two nephews, Steve Anderson and his wife Cathy of Carmel and Dick Anderson and Christine Allison of Richmond; great-nieces, Christy Paschal of Cincinnati, Ohio, Julie Williamson and husband Brian of South Carolina, Darcie Springer of Noblesville, Michelle and Sarah Anderson, both of Richmond; great-nephew Derek Anderson and his wife Christy of Fishers; seven great-great-nephews and nieces; and her beloved pets, Pepe and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James V. Anderson. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center at Washington Park Cemetery North, 2706 Kessler Blvd., West Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46228. All friends of Aunt Mary are most welcome. Burial will be in Washington Park Cemetery North. Doan and Mills Funeral Home of Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
