Megan Renee Lyons

RICHMOND, Ind. – Megan Renee Lyons, age 17, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Riley Children’s Hospital. Born April 9, 1991, in Richmond, to Michael and Denita Van Sickle Lyons, Megan was a life-long resident of Richmond. She attended Life Skills at Richmond High School and Achieva Resources, where she was a 2008 ADA Consumer of the Year. Megan was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She participated in Special Olympics Track and Field. Megan was a cheerleader at all of her brothers’ activities. She touched so many lives with her smile, hugs, and kisses. Survivors include her parents; brothers, Alex and Greg Lyons; maternal grandmother, Imogene Van Sickle who considered Megan to be “the light of her life”; maternal grandfather, Wayne Van Sickle and his wife Judy; great-grandmother, Eloise Bennington of Richmond; aunts, Niki Brehm and her husband Brian of Michigan and Linda Witt and her husband Luther of Richmond; first cousins, Chelsea and Nancy Brehm of Michigan, Ray Witt and his wife Sarah of Richmond, and Andrew Witt of Arizona; cousins including Carley and Jackson Witt of Richmond, Harry Wedding and his wife Debbie and their son Alex of Florida, Andrea Martin and her husband Jerry of Wyoming, and Ross Beam and his wife Mary of Cincinnati and their daughters Kristin and Shannon; great-aunt, Martha Wedding of Richmond; great-uncle, Francis Stanley of Richmond; many friends, caregivers, classmates, and Life Skills staff with whom she had developed a special bond. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Theodore and Georgia Lyons, and uncle, Donald Wedding. Visitation for Megan Renee Lyons will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, 100 North 10th Street, Richmond, with Rev. David Layman officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
