Patrick Murphy

RICHMOND, Ind. – Patrick “Pat” Reid Murphy, age 43, of Richmond, passed Sunday, October 2, 2011, at his home. Born October 26, 1967, in Richmond to Mike and Linda Daugherty Murphy, he lived in Richmond most of his life. Pat graduated from Richmond High School and attended I.U. East until he had taken all of the classes he “liked.” He worked for Holland Colours for 11 years, starting in the shipping area and became a regional sales manager, traveling throughout the eastern U.S. and the occasional trip to Holland for training purposes. Most recently he had worked for Crate Creations in Richmond. Pat enjoyed sports and loved to play golf with family whenever possible. He was a fan of NASCAR and ESPN. He loved his neighborhood cookouts and just talking and passing time on the front porch with his friends. Pat always had an opinion he was willing to share and debate until he won you over to his view. He dearly loved his two dogs, Roxy and Kinsey (Chubby), his great companions until they passed a year ago. Pat never met a stranger and had many acquaintances in the south end of Richmond. He had dear friends who supported him as only true friends do, in good times and bad and he knew who these friends were and cherished these relationships! Survivors include his parents, Mike and Linda Murphy of Greenwood, Ind., who lived in Richmond until 1998; sisters, Kimberly (Chris) Hagemeier of Greenwood, and Kate (Shaun) Antrim of Indianapolis; his nephews and nieces, Zachary, Caleigh, and Madelyn Hagemeier and Gradon Murphy Antrim who he adored and loved to “entertain” with his sense of humor and the right gifts for birthdays and Christmas. Patrick is also survived by aunts; uncles, and many cousins that reside throughout the United States. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service for Patrick “Pat” Reid Murphy will be private as he would have requested. He will be buried in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens beside his beloved grandmother, Clarabel Murphy, whom he adored and with whom he made countless precious memories.
