Paul Joseph Mifsud Paul Joseph Mifsud, age 89 of Richmond, died August 27, 2010, at Reid Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Valletta, Malta, on March 17, 1921, to Paul and Beatrice Mifsud and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richmond. Paul immigrated to the United States in 1947 with his older sister Alice. A new start was what he dreamed of after serving several years as a Lieutenant in charge of Special Communications in the Queen's British Army during World War II. He worked at Hazeltine in Indianapolis, Indiana as an Engineer for several years. He moved to Richmond in 1964 where he began working at AVCO until 1968 then went to work as a Quality Control Manager for Decca Records, which later became Phillips Recording Company (PRC) where he retired in 1986. In 1987 he came out of retirement to become a Quality Engineer Consultant for ETL Laboratories at Belden Wire & Cable until 2003. Over the years Paul enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, his many pets, family gatherings and spending many summers enjoying the beach at Hueston Woods. Survivors include children, Sheila Braughton, Richmond; Paul Mark Mifsud (Carol), New Castle; Sandi Nicholson (Jeff), Perrysburg, OH; Chris Mifsud (Traci), Lynn, IN; Tim Mifsud (Sue), Richmond; Donna K. Combs, Highland Ranch, CO; Kim Cravens and David Mifsud, Richmond; grandchildren, Ashley Norton (Shane Gordnier), Brian Braughton (Sharon), Danyelle Harmon (Matt), Jorden and Jacob Mifsud, Ashleigh Miller, Austin Mifsud, Diana Kinnaman (Jim), Melonie Friddle (Josh Perry), Richard Combs, Tina Belle (Sean), Alisha Combs, Cory McConnell (Theresa) and Stacey Romine (Brian); great-grandchildren, Marissa and Madison Gordnier, Adon Braughton, Deianira Katz, Courtney and Cameron Kinnamon, Clay Purnell and Nicolas Friddle, Nolan, Ian and Christian McConnell, Reagan and Jacob Romine, Hayden Miller, Deagan Wilson, Toby and Ethan Harmon; nephews and nieces, Father Michael Mifsud, Norman Mifsud, Joan Mifsud, Mark Mifsud (Paula), Dorothy Keily all of Australia, Gloria Findling (George), Petoskey, MI and many other nieces and nephews. Special pets and loyal companions: Chips, Wyle E., Sophie and Gizi. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Margie C. Mifsud in 2003; his parents Paul and Beatrice Mifsud of Malta; great-granddaughter, Lauren Kinnaman and seven siblings. Visitation for Paul J. Mifsud will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Saint Andrews Cemetery.
