R. June Bartlemay

RICHMOND, Ind. – R. June Bartlemay, age 87, of Richmond, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born December 19, 1925, in Richmond, to Willie Mack and Abigail Wilkinson Sherrow, she was a life-long resident of Richmond. June was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She was a very active actress in Richmond Civic Theatre, playing roles in Anastasia, Teahouse of the August Moon, Annie Get Your Gun, Pajama Game, and many others. June was an avid golfer. She was 8-time champion of the Richmond Women’s City Amateur Golf Tournament. June was many times the club champion at both Forest Hills and Elks Country Clubs. From 1953 to 1997, she was listed as one of the top three women golfers in Richmond. She was the 1989 Women’s State Senior Golf Champion. In 2008, she was inducted into the Richmond Golf Hall of Fame. Survivors include her son, David Bartlemay of Wausau,Wisconsin; daughters, Diana (Louis) Jaffe of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Robin (John) Myers of DeBary, Florida; 12 grandchildren, Shelley Richter, Christopher Myers, Jeffery Myers, Lara Jaffe, Jennifer Jaffe, Michelle Hengstler, Cari Deutsch, Heather Simon, Jaclyn Bartlemay, Daniel Bartlemay, Rebecca Bartlemay, and Alyse Bartlemay; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, I. Victor Bartlemay who died in 2010; daughter, Victoria Deutsch; parents; sister, Beverly Fields; and niece, Bonnie Lynn Fields. Visitation for R. June Bartlemay will be from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Derrer officiating. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery.
