Rev. Harry M. Holloway

RICHMOND, Ind. – Harry M. Holloway, age 83, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 4, 2010, at his home. He was born June 25, 1927, in New Castle, Ind., to Harold and Mildred Dawson Holloway. Harry was a 1945 graduate of Mays High School, Mays, Ind. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Harry was a 1960 graduate of Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tenn., where he received the Distinguished Service Award in 1981. He was a member and former pastor of Centerville Christian Church from 1976-1989 and he was a minister and evangelist serving churches in Madisonville, Tenn., from 1958-1960 in student ministry, First Christian Church in Dugger, Ind., from 1960-1964; Cambridge City Christian Church, Cambridge City, Ind., from 1964-1968, First Christian Church in Brazil, Ind., from 1968-1971, First Church of Christ in Lynn, Ind., from 1971-1976, and South Christian Church in Mooreland, Ind., from 1993-2004. He held revivals and speaking engagements until he became disabled in 1987. Harry was a former member and past president of the Christian Amateur Radio Fellowship, former member of the Whitewater Valley Amateur Radio Club, and member of the Centerville American Legion Post 287. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Janet Louise Morgan Holloway; daughter, Beverly Jan Bettenbroke (husband Michael) of Houston, Texas; son, Ronald Max Holloway (wife Sharon) of Falmouth, Ind.; five granddaughters, Janet Lee Thomason of Georgetown, Ky., Betty Ann Mulberry (husband Dale) of Stamping Ground, Ky., Jeanie Miller of Louisville, Ky., Ronda Tylka (husband Ben) of Greensburg, Ind., and Brenda Westrum (husband Eldon) of Houston, Texas; one grandson, Scott Holloway (wife Julie) of Greensburg, Ind.;13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Kirkham (husband Robert) of Port Orange, Fla.; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for Harry M. Holloway will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010, at Centerville Christian Church, 111 N. Morton, Centerville. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Centerville Christian Church with Pastor Steve Abernathy and Pastor Terry Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Center Christian Church Cemetery, Mays, Ind. Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, is handling the arrangements.
