Robert E. Haustetter

RICHMOND, Ind. – Robert E. Haustetter, age 77, of Richmond, died Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Reid Hospital. Born April 28, 1934, in Richmond, to Everett A. and Vivian E. Nye Haustetter, he was a life-long resident of Richmond. Bob was a 1952 graduate of Fountain City High School, in a class of 13. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955. Bob retired in 1996, after 40 years with Belden as a tool and die maker. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, 33 year member of Harry Ray Post 65 of the American Legion, and life member of Richmond Evening Optimist, having earned Optimist of the Year in 1976 to 1977. Bob spent many years coaching for Gra-Y, REO Little League, Babe Ruth, Colt, American Legion, RHS JV Baseball Assistant Coach, RHS Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach with John Cate, and Richmond Roosters. He spent countless hours restoring and maintaining McBride Stadium. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Anne Coyle Haustetter to whom he was married May 25, 1958; three children, Jana Elaine Angelucci of Roswell, Georgia, Marc Alan (Tina) Haustetter of Richmond, and Jon Eric (Amy) Haustetter of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Joshua David Angelucci, Katilyn E. Fahrner, Eric Michael Haustetter, and Paige Kristen Haustetter; two step-grandchildren, Alan and Kevin Richards; step-great-grandson, Kade Richards; sister, Shirley Brown of Tampa, Florida; half-sister, Vicki (Billy) Williams of Midland, Texas; brother-in-law, Clarence Caywood “Woody” Coyle of Lexington, Kentucky; nieces; nephews; cousins including Jack and Eugene Bahlman; and many friends, including his baseball family, golfing buddies, and Myrtle Beach family. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Lillie Townsend Haustetter; and brother-in-law, Lowell Brown. Visitation for Robert E. Haustetter will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Public graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Pastor David A. Layman officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
