Ruby C. Hunt

RICHMOND, Ind. – Ruby C. Hunt, age 95, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born September 11, 1916, in Covington, Indiana, to Homer J. and Florence N. Beckelhymer Coffing, she lived in the Richmond area for most of her life. She was a 1934 graduate of Perrysville High School in Perrysville, Indiana and she attended Purdue University. She volunteered as the manager of the gift shop at Reid Hospital for 20 years and also at the Townsend Center. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and Psi Iota Xi in Hagerstown. Ruby enjoyed singing in choirs and Civic Theatre. She and her husband, Myron, traveled worldwide. Survivors include her three daughters, Sheila H. (Paul) Nollen of Macomb, Illinois, Cheryl H. Sheeler of Auburn, Indiana, and Pamela H. Rommer of Centerville, Indiana; son, Curtis N. (Ruth) Hunt of Catlin, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Douglas Hunt (Kelly) of Carleton, Michigan, Laura Hunt of Champaign, Illinois, Marie Powell (Toby) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Nathan Nollen (Angie) of Pontiac, Illinois, Jennifer Ford of Auburn, Indiana, Tad Sheeler of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, Ben Sheeler of Auburn, Indiana, Jon Sheeler of Auburn, Indiana, Victoria Rommer of Chicago, Illinois, and Christine Rommer of Centerville, Indiana; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Ray) Newnum of Evansville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Winnie (Donald) Coffing; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Myron C. Hunt, who died on September 23, 2010; her parents; three sisters, Leah Louise Coffing, Mildred (Walter) Ahrens, and Anna Marie (Cliston) Ratcliff; two brothers, Donald Coffing and Charles Coffing; and son-in-law, Gary Sheeler. Visitation for Ruby C. Hunt will be from 2 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Christ Presbyterian Church, 350 Henley Road, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Clark officiating. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery.
