Russell K. "Rusty" Hollingsworth

RICHMOND, Ind. – Russell K. “Rusty” Hollingsworth, age 59, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Ambassador Healthcare surrounded by his friends and family. Born April 13, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana, to Russell S. and Mary E. Long Hollingsworth, Rusty lived most of his life in this area. He graduated from Richmond High School and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Ball State University. Rusty was also on the tennis team while at Ball State. He taught at Richmond Community Schools for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2012. Rusty coached boys and girls tennis at Richmond Community Schools as well as running youth tennis camps. He had been a tennis teaching pro at Troy and Toledo, Ohio. Rusty had also taught in Auburn, Indiana schools. He was a pastor at Greenwood United Methodist Church in Liberty, Indiana and Old Franklin United Methodist Church in Brookville, Indiana. While members at Central United Methodist Church, Rusty and his wife, Roxann, founded the Kids for Christ program. He had also been involved with Emmaus and Special Olympics. Rusty was a man of service to others. He loved his family and grandkids dearly and enjoyed family get-togethers. Survivors include his wife, Roxann Brokamp Hollingsworth to whom he was married on November 17, 1979; children, Joy (Joel) Hart of Lynn, Indiana, Megan (Tyler) Stinson of Greenwood, Indiana, and Josh Hollingsworth of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hart, Sophia Hart, and Eliana Stinson; siblings, Michael (Linda) Hollingsworth of Richmond, Yvona (Chuck) Wolfe of Richmond, and Lisa (Mary Didelot) Hollingsworth of Valparaiso, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Edith Brokamp; and sister-in-law, Arlene Fetzer. Visitation for Russell K. “Rusty” Hollingsworth will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Bill J. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
