Shirley Ann McGuire

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Shirley A. McGuire, age 88, died January 5, 2014, at Friends Fellowship Community. Shirley was born October 10, 1925, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to Charles H. and Jennie Badgley Case and lived in this area since 1958. She was a 1943 graduate of Crawfordsville High School in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Shirley was a stay at home mom for several years, and lovingly took care of her children. She was employed at RR Donnelley Manufacturing as secretary, Crawfordsville Schools as secretary, and Centerville Abington Community Schools as secretary in the Superintendent’s office for several years. Shirley was an active member of First Baptist Church of Richmond and First Baptist Church of Centerville for several years, where she served as organist and pianist. She loved the Lord and served Him with all her heart. Shirley was an avid Pacer’s fan. She was a great baker and loved to give her candy and cookies as gifts to others, at Christmastime. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Shirley spent hours preparing and cooking for her family at special occasions. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. A special thank you for the nurses and CNA’s who lovingly cared for Shirley during her stay at Friends Fellowship Health Care Center. Survivors include her sons, Michael L. (Nancy) McGuire of Traverse City, Michigan, and Thomas W. (Donna) McGuire of Richmond; daughter, Nancy A. (Bruce) Johnson of Alexandria, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Erin, Mark, John, James, Nicole, Chris, Alyssa, and Randy; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don A. McGuire; parents; sister, Phyllis Rambin; and brother, Ronald Case. Visitation for Shirley A. McGuire will be from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, with Rev. Phillip Hodgkin officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
