Terry A. Bell

CENTERVILLE, IN– On the afternoon of December 27, 2023, we lost a beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather to go to be with our Lord and Savior. Or, as he would say, he “went home”. This amazing man, a true example of faith, humbleness, grace, and love was Terry Bell. Terry, Born July 12, 1944, to cherished parents Wilber and Mildred Bell, attended Richmond Senior High School and later went on to boldly enlist in the United States Airforce. He served his country honorably, beginning November 30, 1964. He courageously served during the Vietnam War, even re-enlisting in order to do his part to assure freedom for his future wife, daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he adored more than words. Shortly after his return, he met and fell in love with the “girl next door”. Terry felt blessed when he first laid eyes on the young lady living next door to his parents. Shortly thereafter, she became his treasured bride of nearly 54 years. Terry realized he had met the woman of his dreams and love of his life and a grand future blossomed from there. These two beautiful souls stood before God, family, and friends to say “I Do” on July 24, 1970. Terry valued and loved his family more than any words could describe. Next to God, he treasured and was immensely proud of his family. He left behind his beloved wife, Joy Bell, and his only child and pride and joy, Kerri Bell (Michael) Duke of Centerville, Indiana. Becoming a grandfather brought him joy for years. He also left behind 4 grandchildren, Kristin Duke (James) Boardman of Richmond, Nicolee Duke (Jalen) Rhodus of Alabama, Joshua Duke of Florida, and Gabrielle Duke (Marhsall Payne) of Centerville; as well as four great grandchildren, Ava-Lynn, Alaina, Jaxon, and Malia. Terry also left behind his sisters, Cindy Bell (Dan) Powell of Richmond, Patty Bell (Todd) Marshall of Richmond, and his baby sister Staci Bell (Michael) Maupin of Connersville; two brothers in law; a sister in law; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who he held closely to his heart. On April 27, 1986, Terry gave his life to the Lord. Terry loved the Lord with every bit of his mind, body, and soul. His family rests peacefully in the knowledge they will see him again with their Heavenly Father. Terry was a main staple and supporter of his grandchildren’s school, sports, and social activities, taking in each moment with pride, love, and laughter. Visitation for Terry A. Bell will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Earlham Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
