Thelma Joyce Magee

RICHMOND, Ind. – Thelma Joyce Magee, age 101, of Richmond, died Monday, November 7, 2016, at Golden Living Center/Golden Rule. Born June 27, 1915, in Savoy, Kentucky, to John Milford and Margaret Ella Wells Siler, Thelma had lived in this community since 1954. She was a 1936 graduate of Saxton High School. Thelma received an Associate’s degree from Cumberland College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Master’s degree from Ball State University. Thelma was an elementary school teacher in Tennessee, Indiana, and Arkansas, retiring in 1984 after 45 years of service. She returned to substitute teach in Memphis, Tennessee, for several years. Thelma was a member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association and the Arkansas Teachers Retirement System. She was a member of Fellowship Church of Richmond. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Ann (Marco) Delucio of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Marcia Siler-White (David) of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Tamara (Bruce) English of Arlington, Texas, Carmela (Steve) Merriman of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cynthia (David) Bernasconi of Florida, Raymond George (Jean) Delucio of San Antonio, Texas, W. Andrew (Cheryl) Delucio of Richmond, Indiana, James Siler Jr. of Charleston, Rhode Island, and Cheryl (Mohammed) Tiouat of Winter Springs, Florida; great-grandchildren, Kristofer (Jennifer), Harry J. III (Megan), R. Andrew (Caitlin), M. Anthony (Crystal), John Michael, Steven, Laura, Sara, Anna, Jeffrey, Matthew (Saori), Jaqueline, Evelyn, Peyton, Alexander, Joshua, Cameron, Saida, and Sami; great-great-grandchildren, Harry J. IV, Oliver Q., Elleanor, and Hayley; step-grandchild, Ashley; step-great-grandchildren, Charlytte, Garrett, Austen, and Jenneelyn; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, James Siler; great-granddaughter, Maryssa; parents; sisters, Estelle, Lena Irene, and Ruby; and brothers, John and Pascal. Visitation for Thelma Joyce Magee will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor John Maples officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
