Elder Wade Hampton Stanley Sr.

RICHMOND, Ind. – Elder Wade Hampton Stanley Sr., age 71, of Richmond, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, January 20, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., at his home following a brief illness. He was born March 5, 1945, in Rockford, Illinois, to James Franklin and Eloise Simril Stanley. He attended school in Rockford and then later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. After residing two years in Grand Rapids, he met the love of his life, his wife of 47 years, Jacquelyn Turner of Benton Harbor, Michigan. They were married in Grand Rapids on December 24, 1969. He attended Kirkland Community College in Cadillac, Michigan, for 18 months before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1971. Elder Stanley was first employed at Jewish Hospital as an orderly in 1972. He went through the Craftsman Program, known as Prep-Jet to become an electrician. The Lord blessed him to become a journeyman electrician for the I.B.E.W. Local 212 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Elder Stanley was filled with the Holy Ghost in 1974, under the Ministry of Bishop and Mother John H. Mathews Jr. who at that time was an overseer. Bishop Mathews later became the National/International Presiding Prelate of the A.O.H. Church of God Inc. Elder Stanley honored and really loved his Spiritual Father, Bishop Mathews. Elder Stanley was ordained as an Elder in 1976. He was appointed as Pastor of the First A.O.H. Church of God on Central Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1980. He left a legacy of witnessing/preaching throughout Local 212 on his job sites. Throughout his ministry, he formed spiritual relationships with holy men of God. The Lord blessed him to be able to enter into a Fourth Sunday Fellowship with three other pastors, Elder Isaac Roberson, Elder Edward Cook, and Bishop Jerome Spencer. In these services many were healed, delivered, and set free. The Lord blessed these pastors to be unified in love. He then moved to Jamaica, New York, to pastor the Jamaica A.O.H. Church of God in 1992, after commuting for two years and residing there for three years. In 1995, he moved to Richmond, Indiana, where he pastored God’s House of Prayer, Love, and Restoration under the leadership of Superintendent Harry Hawkins of Freeport, Illinois, until his passing. He was another man of God that Elder Stanley really loved, and who was also his uncle. A young lady from Richmond, Sister Vanessa who Elder Stanley prayed for in 2012 was healed of cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mother Jacquelyn Stanley; three daughters, Melinda Stanley and Valecia Dickens, both of Richmond and Tralaina Stanley of Xenia, Ohio; two sons, Minister Jermayne (Renee) Stanley of Richmond and Elder Darius (Juerita) Stanley of Centerville, Indiana; one son in the gospel, Elder Robert (Venus) Dothard of Cincinnati, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Marquette, Di-yante, Jacquan, Mercedes, Devante, Di-Yamonte, Veronica, Jaden, Little Jermayne, Jaleah, and Jzhira; 11great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy (Greta) Garrison, Nathan Stanley, and Ben (Leisa) Stanley; two sisters, Linda Collins and Carolyn (Dwight) Moss; three special aunts, Edna Fletcher of Toledo, Ohio, and Annie Malone and Leona Stanley, both of Athens, Alabama; one special uncle, Morris Stanley of Toledo, Ohio; a host of spiritual children and grandchildren in the Lord; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wade Hampton Stanley Jr.; sisters, Jacqueline Hawkins and Eunice McGill; three brothers, Elder James R. Stanley, Elder Michael Stanley, and Robert Stanley. Visitation for Elder Wade Hampton Stanley Sr. will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Additional visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at Faith Temple Apostolic Church of God, 825 Rockdale Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio. Homegoing service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at the church. Burial will at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.
