William E. "Bill" Blue

CONNERSVILLE, IN– Bill Blue, age 82, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on October 8, 1942, to Ed and Hazel (Alexander) Blue. Bill graduated from Richmond High School. He worked for Nettle Creek Industries in Richmond before being drafted into the Army and served in Viet Nam as part of the Signal Corps. After the Army, Bill pursued degrees in Entomology from Purdue University on the GI Bill and the University of Missouri in Columbia. After graduating from the University of Missouri, he worked for the Diamond Shamrock Corporation in West Palm Beach, Florida and married Barbara (Bennett) Blue and started a family. Bill returned to Indiana and worked for the State Board of Health. After a few years, he transferred to the Department of Environmental Management and worked in Pretreatment for sewage treatment plants until he retired. In retirement Bill started a consulting agency for corporations and volunteered with municipalities for cost effective ways of making and keeping water clean. Bill belonged to Sunbeam Alpine Owners’ Club of America (SAOCA) and TEAE (another car club) and very much enjoyed traveling in his 1967 Sunbeam Alpine all over the states with Barbara for many years. After it was declared totaled in June of 2020, he had been working on updating a 1966 Sunbeam Alpine to take its place. Bill and his widow were looking forward to getting the new older car running to visit friends and family throughout the country. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Barbara; Paul and Amy Blue, their two children Adrian and Ethan; Nathan, Patrick and Mia Blue as well as their four children, Thomas, Lydia, Seth and Ian. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Hazel Blue; his sister and brother-in-law Ann (Blue) and Jim Snyder; as well as all of his aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Visitation for William E. Blue will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bryan Chapel Cemetery.
