Willie C. "Bill" Kimble

CENTERVILLE, Ind. - Willie C. 'Bill' Kimble, age 88, of Centerville, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Ambassador Healthcare. Born June 17, 1925, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, to Willie Oscar and Loma Foley Kimble, Bill lived in this area most of his life. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Philippines as Radioman 2nd Class and Gunner on a 3' anti-aircraft gun. Bill was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a brakeman/conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail. Bill was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and life-member of the VFW Kirk-Little Post #1108 and American Legion Harry Ray Post #65. He loved NASCAR, fishing, hunting, gardening, and country music. Survivors include his children, Roger (Pam) Kimble of Richmond, Brenda Kimble of Richmond, Deborah (Windel) Stracener of Richmond, Barry (Tina Mathews) Kimble of Richmond, and Scott (Lori) Kimble of Richmond; 15 grandchildren, Angela Raitt of Rowlett, Texas, Michael (Pam) Strunk of Richmond, Chad Strunk of Richmond, Tim Marshall of Florida, Sherry Blackwell of Centerville, Jennifer (Bill Jr.) Longmire of New Paris, Ohio, Julie (Lawrence) Hunter of Richmond, Sarah and John Stracener, both of Richmond, Tara Brockman of Richmond, Morgan Kimble of Richmond, Alyssa Mathews of Richmond, Zachary Kimble of Richmond, Dakota Lafollette of Richmond, and Megan Yingst of Richmond; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene (Joann) Kimble of Carmel, Indiana and Vernon (Molly) Kimble of Smyrna, Georgia; sister, Mary Foley of Russell Springs, Kentucky; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Hurd Kimble; parents; brothers, Kenneth Kimble and B.H. Kimble; sister, Deanne Reutsch; grandson, Ricky Raitt; and great-grandson, Michael Strunk. Visitation for Willie C. 'Bill' Kimble will be from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3469 Hillcrest Road, Richmond, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. Martin Holman officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
