Conard Clay Coffey

CENTERVILLE, Ind. - Conard Clay Coffey, age 77, of Centerville, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at home with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter by his side. Born November 20, 1934, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to James Madison and Minnie Langford Parrett Coffey, he came to Richmond in 1956. Conard was a U. S. Army Veteran serving from 1957-1959 and in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959-1963. He retired from Belden as an inspector after 41 years. Conard was a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to church, spending time with his family, and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Sizemore Coffey, to whom he was married February 6, 1958; son, Darren (Annette) Coffey of Centerville; daughter, Rhonda Grove of Centerville; grandchildren, Josh Coffey of Indianapolis, Justin Coffey of Franklin, Indiana, Zach Watson and KaiAnnah Grove, both of Centerville; brothers, Henry (Margaret) Coffey of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, Jesse (Christine) Coffey of Richmond, Walter Coffey of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, Ray (Mary Edith) Coffey of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lloyd (Janice) Coffey of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Lydia Ballinger of Richmond, Mae (Bryan) Cowan of Centerville, and Marie Clark of Richmond; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Orlene Coffey; brothers, John Tillman Coffey, Donald Lee Coffey, and James 'Bill' Coffey; nephews; Jim Ballinger and Larry Cowan; son-in-law, Rick Grove; sister-in-law, Georgia Coffey; brothers-in-law, Rubin Ballinger and Charles Clark. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Embrace Hospice and Ambassador Healthcare. Visitation for Conard Clay Coffey will be from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. H. Lynn Seagraves officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
