Joseph C. Coblentz

RICHMOND, Ind. – Joseph C. Coblentz, age 80, of Richmond, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at his home. Born August 1, 1927, in New Paris, Ohio to Lawrence E. and Pauline S. Tavern Coblentz, he lived most of his life in Richmond. Joe was a 1945 graduate of Richmond High School and a U. S. Marine veteran, serving in W.W. II and Korea. He was a former employee of Alcoa, Hoffco, Moto-Mower and Muchey Machine Co. Joe retired from the Indiana National Guard Reserve as a Colonel after 16 years. He was the former owner/operator of Midwest Boat & Motor Sales, the Gun Shop and Coblentz Militaria. Joe was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, life-member and past commander of V.F.W., life-member and past commander of American Legion Post #65, life-member of AMVETS in Connersville, life-member of Richmond Masonic Lodge #196, life-member of Ohio Gun Collectors Association, Life-Member of Ohio Valley Military Society, past-president of Wayne County Veteran’s Council, life-member of United States Marine Corps Motor Transport Association, life-member of Marine Corps League and past Commandant and member of Druids Lodge #29 and Sons of Union Veteran’s of the Civil War. Survivors include his long-time dear companion, Faye Morris of Richmond, daughters, Elizabeth Ann Parent and her husband, Carl of West Palm Beach, Florida and Cathryn McAdams of Franklin, Indiana; son, Joseph C. Coblentz Jr. and his wife Pam of Richmond; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Angela Boyd and her husband, Don of Rochester, New York and brother, Lawrence E. Coblentz Jr. and his wife Jeannine of Richmond; nieces; nephews; and many friends. Preceded in death by his infant son, Joseph Michael Coblentz and his parents. Funeral service for Joseph C. Coblentz will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Rev. John Hollis officiating. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery in the Veteran’s Field of Honor with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
