Marilyn K. Crowe

RICHMOND, Ind. – Marilyn Kathryn Crowe, age 84, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Reid Hospital, Hospice Unit after a lengthy illness. Marilyn was born on January 6, 1927, in Richmond to Robert C. and Bertha Taube Rohe. She graduated from Richmond High School, attended Earlham College for three years, and worked at Rohe’s Jewelry Store in Richmond before becoming a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Marilyn married Frank L. Crowe on June 25, 1949. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Psi Iota Xi Sorority of Centerville, Opportunettes Club, Indiana Home Extension Club, Y.M.I. Auxiliary, UAW Local #721 Retirees, Cope Environmental Center, Whitewater Valley Land Trust, and Centerville Athletic Boosters. Marilyn enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading, gardening, riding her bike, and spending time with family. She was well known for her hospitality and for baking and sharing the best pies anywhere with family and friends. Marilyn also enjoyed entering crafts, flower arrangements, pies, and cakes in the Wayne County open fair exhibits. She particularly loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in all sorts of sporting events and other school activities. Marilyn was an avid I.U., Notre Dame, Colts, and Centerville Bulldog fan. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Frank L. Crowe; six sons, Robert E. Crowe and his wife Jama Mathewson Crowe, Ronald L. Crowe, and Michael F. Crowe and his friend Diane Fields, all of Richmond, Randall L. Crowe and his wife Kathy Williams Crowe of Williamsburg, Lawrence J. Crowe of Houston, Texas, and Richard K. Crowe of Indianapolis; two daughters, Kathleen A. Crowe McClain of Jasper, Indiana and Carol M. Crowe Britt and her husband Mike of Richmond; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Donald Rohe and his wife Rita; sister, Melicent Winnefeld and her husband Jack; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was anticipating the birth of a great-granddaughter in September. Visitation for Marilyn Kathryn Crowe will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2011 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Todd Riebe and Father John Luerman officiating.
