Rebecca Marie "Becca" Stoermer

RICHMOND, Ind. – Rebecca Marie ‘Becca’ Stoermer, age 18, of Richmond, died peacefully and with dignity on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born April 30, 1997, in Richmond, Indiana, to Michael L. and Dena L. Wilson Stoermer, Becca was a life-long resident of Richmond. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. She attended Richmond High School, Dennis Middle School, and Westview Elementary School and worked at the west-side McDonald’s. Becca’s goal was to graduate from high school and pursue a career in Sports Medicine. She loved all sports, especially basketball, and was devoted to the Richmond High School girl’s basketball team. Becca loved her family and enjoyed times when everyone was together. Her faith was very important to her. She was very patriotic and was interested in anything regarding history and politics. Becca truly had a heart for others and was always concerned about the needs of others rather than her own. Survivors include her parents; brother, Adam ‘A.J.’ Stoermer; grandparents, Ruby M. Stoermer, Becky (Jim) Adams, and Charlie (Sherri) Wilson; aunts; uncles; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Stoermer. Becca’s family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and staff members of Riley Children’s Hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Reid Hospital for the excellent care given to Becca. The prayers and selfless acts of many community members and area churches mean more to the family than words can ever say. Visitation for Rebecca Marie ‘Becca’ Stoermer will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Short Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 235 South 5th Street, Richmond, with Father Kevin Morris officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Riley Children’s Foundation, 30 South Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204. By noting ‘in honor of Rebecca Stoermer’ in the memo line, your donation will help Cystic Fibrosis patients involved in sports, as Becca requested.
