Troy G. Cheek

RICHMOND, IN - Troy G. Cheek, age 71, of Richmond, died Friday, January 4, 2008, after a short illness. Born May 10, 1936, in Manchester, Kentucky to Floyd Cheek and Ethel Hayre Cheek, he had been a resident of this area for over forty-five years. Troy worked in the coal mines in Kentucky when he was young. He worked for Wallace Sheet Metal and retired from Astral Casket Company in 1998. He enjoyed coon hunting, woodworking, gardening, and 'getting in his garage time'. Troy's passion was cooking for his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughter Hayle play sports and cheering for the Colts with Hayle. Survivors include his wife, Shirley S. Railsback Cheek; one daughter, Rhonda Harris and her husband Bruce of Dublin, Indiana; grandchildren, Brandi Hummel of Dublin, Indiana, Shane Harris of Dublin, Indiana serving in the U.S. Army deployed in Iraq, and Zachary Harris of Dublin, Indiana serving in the U. S. Marine Corps; one step-son, Daniel Sparks of Centerville; one step-daughter, Maurcia Crutcher and her husband David of Centerville; step-grandchildren, Hayle Crutcher, Valerie Crutcher and Dustin Crutcher; six sisters, Ruth Cottongim of Richmond, Sharon Minton and her husband Gene of Cambridge City, Sudie Ritch of Indianapolis, Ruby Baker and her husband Paul Ritter of Scottsburg, Indiana, Karen Combs and her husband Steve of London, Kentucky, and Pearl Dean Miller of Manchester, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Cheek; mother, Ethel Lewis; step-father, Samuel Lewis; and two sisters, Nancy Hibbard and Peggy Jones. Funeral service for Troy G. Cheek will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, Indiana with Kevin Holley, Chaplain of Covenant Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Centerville, Indiana. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home.
